BIOGRAPHY:

LINDA LAVIN (Ruth Steiner) won a Tony award for her performance in Broadway Bound in 1987 as well as the Drama Desk, Outer Critics’, and Helen Hayes. She is a 4 time Tony nominee for her roles in The Last of the Red Hot Lovers, The Diary of Anne Frank, and The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife. Twice again winner of the drama desk award and two time golden globe winner for her role as Alice on the t.v. show “Alice.” She was born, raised and educated in Portland, Maine and graduated from the College of William and Mary which has recently conferred on her a Doctor of Arts degree. She started her career in musicals in the chorus and has worked her way up to this part in Collected Stories. She credits her great friend and mentor, Hal Prince, with changing her llife many times, including the trip he and his wife, Judy, hosted to China. He gave her her first speaking role on a New York stage, and other roles thereafter. She credits Lynne Meadow, too, for enhancing her life and work, first with Allergist’s Wife and now with Collected Stories. When they are not touring her concert act with her musical director, Billy Stritch, she and her multi talented husband and drummer, Steve Bakunas, own and operate the Red Barn Studio, a 47 seat community theatre in Wilmington, North Carolina for which they have performed or directed 9 plays in the past 3 years – among them – Doubt, Driving Miss Daisy, Speed the Plow, Rabbit Hole. They have a beagle/jack named Mickey and a wonderful life.

DOUGLAS HODGE (Albin) won an Oliver Award for this performance. He is a triple Olivier-nominated classical actor working at the National Theatre, the RSC, Shakespeare’s Globe and the Royal Court. For ten years he worked closely with Harold Pinter as both actor and director. He was associate director at the Donmar 2007-2009.  He has two albums of his own compositions – Cowley Road Songs and Nightbus.  Alongside numerous television shows, recent film work includes The Descent Two and Robin Hood.  This is his Broadway debut!
