LOMBARDI’s Judith Light Featured on Towle Road

LOMBARDI’S JUDITH LIGHT ON TOWLEROAD.COM ON WORLD AIDS DAY

To mark World AIDS Day, Towleroad’s Kevin Sessums interviewed actress and activist Judith Light about AIDS activism, her relationship with the LGBT community, and starring in LOMBARDI on Broadway.

Sessums writes, “Though she has become known for the vast range of her work on television, she is a stage creature at heart. And there is so much heart in her performance of Marie Lombardi. There is not a false moment in her performance, a wasted gesture… Light is giving one of the great stage performances of the last few Broadway seasons. Do not miss it.”

“Light and I talked a lot about the Lombardis and football and how she goes about building a character when I met with her at Circle in the Square before a Saturday matinee. But her true passion began to surface when our talk turned to her help in the fight for gay rights and the history of AIDS within the gay community and how the epidemic proved to be the community’s shining moment as well as its most tragic.”

Fast Chat: Dan Lauria has a field day in ‘Lombardi’

BY JOSEPH V. AMODIO

Newsday

Dan Lauria sits with a bowl of mushroom barley soup at a diner near the Circle in the Square theater, where he stars in “Lombardi,” a new play that opened last week.

The famous gruff TV dad – from “The Wonder Years” – plays legendary Green Bay Packers coach Vince Lombardi, with a famous TV mom – Judith Light, of “Who’s the Boss?” – as his ever-patient, wisecracking wife. The play reveals the fragile, complicated relationship they maintained while he did the impossible: transform a lousy NFL team into a winning machine that nabbed five league championships in seven years. No other coach has come close to that feat. Continue reading
