Jersey Boys sets new record in Philly for 7th time

JERSEY BOYS SETS NEW BOX OFFICE RECORD IN PHILADELPHIA

FOR THE SEVENTH TIME FOR WEEK ENDING 12/05/10: $1,486,620

The Philadelphia engagement of the Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award-winning musical JERSEY BOYS broke the box office record at the Forrest Theatre for the seventh time, grossing $1,486,620 for the week ending December 5.  This tops the previous record of $1,451,273, which they set the week ending November 28.

JERSEY BOYS began performances in Philadelphia on Thursday, September 30 and will play through Sunday, December 12.  JERSEY BOYS will next play Boston’s Colonial Theatre from December 16 through January 30.
The cast of JERSEY BOYS is lead by Matt Bailey (Tommy DeVito), Joseph Leo Bwarie (Frankie Valli), original Broadway cast member Steve Gouveia (Nick Massi), Quinn VanAntwerp (Bob Gaudio), with Jonathan Hadley and Joseph Siravo.

The ensemble of JERSEY BOYS includes Candi Boyd, Jared Bradshaw, Christopher DeAngelis, John Michael Dias, John Edwards, Alayna Gallo, John Gardiner, Buck Hujabre, Denise Payne, Brian Silverman, Courter Simmons, Ryan Strand, Kara Tremel, Mark Verdino and Kevin Worley. Continue reading

JERSEY BOYS wins Australian Helpmann Award For Best Musical

JERSEY BOYS, the international smash hit musical about the story of Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, won the Helpmann Award (Australia’s Tony Award) for Best Musical.

In addition the show won Best Music Direction – Ron Melrose & Luke Hunter.

To top off the evening the cast of the show performed live at the Awards Ceremony on September 6 and received a prolonged standing screaming ovation.  The Awards Ceremony was broadcast live on STVDIO, channel 132 on Foxtel.

JERSEY BOYS is already the recipient of four Tony Awards including Best Musical, winner of the Olivier Award for Best New Musical, the Grammy Award, the Dora Maver Audience Choice Award (Toronto) and winner of seven Victorian Green Room Awards (Australia).

After 14 months in Melbourne and being seen by nearly 600,000 patrons and playing 453 sold out performances JERSEY BOYS is now previewing at Sydney’s Theatre Royal with the official opening night taking place on Saturday, September 18, 2010.
