Six-time Emmy Award nominee Jeffrey Tambor (“Arrested Development,” “The Larry Sanders Show”) will make his Broadway musical debut as Georges opposite four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein as Albin in the Tony Award-winning revival of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES.  Tambor and Fierstein will begin performances on Tuesday, February 15 at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street).  Five-time Emmy Award winner Kelsey Grammer and 2010 Tony Award winner Douglas Hodge, the current stars of LA CAGE, will play their final performance on Sunday, February 13.

 

Jeffrey Tambor made his Broadway debut in 1976 in the comedy Sly Fox, appearing opposite George C. Scott and directed by Arthur Penn. He appeared in the New York Shakespeare Festival production of Measure for Measure that same year.   He has remained active in theater, directing Lanford Wilson’s Burn This at the Skylight Theatre in Los Angeles and acting and directing at many regional theatre companies, including the Academy Festival Theatre in Chicago and the Loeb Drama Center at Harvard and in plays by Shakespeare, Molière and Chekhov, as well as contemporary writers.   In 2005, he returned to Broadway in David Mamet’s Glengarry Glen Ross, which won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play and a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Ensemble Performance. Douglas Hodge, who won a 2010 Tony Award for his critically acclaimed performance as Albin in LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, will extend his run for an additional six months in the smash hit Tony Award-winning revival at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street).  Hodge and five-time Emmy Award-winner Kelsey Grammer will keep their love alive as Albin and Georges in LA CAGE AUX FOLLES until February 13, 2011, when both actors will depart the production.

BIOGRAPHY:

DOUGLAS HODGE (Albin) won an Oliver Award for this performance. He is a triple Olivier-nominated classical actor working at the National Theatre, the RSC, Shakespeare’s Globe and the Royal Court. For ten years he worked closely with Harold Pinter as both actor and director. He was associate director at the Donmar 2007-2009.  He has two albums of his own compositions – Cowley Road Songs and Nightbus.  Alongside numerous television shows, recent film work includes The Descent Two and Robin Hood.  This is his Broadway debut!
