 (Minneapolis/St. Paul) The Guthrie Theater announced today that Kristine Nielsen – who recently appeared on Broadway in Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson – will play Abby Brewster in its upcoming production of Joseph Kesselring’s Arsenic and Old Lace, directed by Joe Dowling.

Nielsen is no stranger to the Guthrie, having appeared in numerous Minneapolis productions during the theater’s 1980-83 seasons, including Arms and the Man, The Tempest, Our Town, Candide, As You Like It and Peer Gynt. She teams with Guthrie regular Sally Wingert, who is current making her Broadway debut in La Bête (closing January 9 at Broadway’s Music Box Theatre), to play the pair of well-meaning but deadly spinster sisters in this classic American comedy, which begins performances April 9 on the Wurtele Thrust Stage at the Guthrie.
