NOMINATED FOR GRAMMY AWARD

FOR BEST MUSICAL SHOW ALBUM

The 2009 Broadway Revival Cast Recording of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, produced by Tommy Krasker on Nonesuch – PS Classics, has received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Musical Show Album, it was announced yesterday. The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards will be announced on CBS on February 13, 2011.

The other nominees in the Grammy category for Best Musical Show Album are American Idiot, Fela!, Sondheim on Sondheim and Promises, Promises.

A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, currently starring Bernadette Peters and Elaine Stritch, is now playing at the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 West 48th Street) through Sunday, January 9, 2011. Continue reading

The Plaza has Eloise, a fictional little girl who has the run of the hotel. Since the 1930s, the Algonquin has had a series of cats, all named Matilda, in its lobby. But the Carlyle does them one better.

It has Elaine Stritch — a living, breathing icon of the Broadway stage (now co-starring in the Tony Award-winning revival of “A Little Night Music”) — who’s made the historic Upper East Side hotel her own special kingdom.

“I’m a hotel baby,” Stritch, 85, says. “I’ve always lived in hotels, but I’m very picky. I love living at the Carlyle. They spoil me. So I keep getting worse and worse. I get more demanding, I run the show, what I say goes. But I have a feeling that the people here like me.”

Stephen R. Buntrock will step into the role of Fredrik Egerman in Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s Tony Award–winning masterpiece A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, directed by Tony Award-winner Trevor Nunn, on Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Alexander Hanson, who originated the role in this production, will play his final performance on Sunday, September 26, 2010.

Beginning Tuesday, September 28th, A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC stars Bernadette Peters as Desirée Armfeldt, Elaine Stritch as Madame Armfeldt, Stephen R. Buntrock as Fredrik Egerman, Bradley Dean as Count Carl-Magnus Malcolm, Erin Davie as Countess Charlotte Malcolm, Leigh Ann Larkin as Petra, Hunter Ryan Herdlicka as Henrik Egerman and Ramona Mallory as Anne Egerman.
