BIOGRAPHY:

DOUGLAS HODGE (Albin) won an Oliver Award for this performance. He is a triple Olivier-nominated classical actor working at the National Theatre, the RSC, Shakespeare’s Globe and the Royal Court. For ten years he worked closely with Harold Pinter as both actor and director. He was associate director at the Donmar 2007-2009.  He has two albums of his own compositions – Cowley Road Songs and Nightbus.  Alongside numerous television shows, recent film work includes The Descent Two and Robin Hood.  This is his Broadway debut!

Mercedes has grown a little jaded and a little too large for her favorite frocks.  Her dreams of rising from the fundament of the chorus to the firmament of stardom never having been realized, her sequined soul is forever sequestered to the service of her Madame Zaza.

TERRY LAVELL (Mercedes), a native of New Orleans, is excited about his Broadway debut in La Cage. Broadway tours: Hairspray (Las Vegas Seaweed), Smokey Joe’s Café (Adrian). Regional: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Protean) Denver Arts Center; Boys from Syracuse (Seress/Tailor Baltimore Center Stage); Aida, FCLO, Pippin (Leading Player), Assassins (Proprietor). TV/Film: “Happy Life,” “Sex in the City” and “The Dave Chapelle Show”. Terry has also been seen in the NYMF as well as Fringe Festivals in Castronauts (Amazona) and Look What a Wonder Jesus Has Done and as a top finalist in NYMF Broadway Idol competition and in Scandalous People (Trixie). Some workshops include Dillinger The Musical (Youngblood), Invisible Life (Kyle Alexander Benton) and a featured guest with Ashford & Simpson at Feinsteins. Terry received his Bachelors degree from Northwestern State University, Natchitoches, LA. Terry sends a special thank you to mama, FD, J.A.T., About Artists and many friends and family.
