THE GLASS MENAGERIE concludes limited engagement 6/13

ROUNDABOUT THEATRE COMPANY

Final Two Weeks!

THE GLASS MENAGERIE

By Tennessee Williams

Directed by Gordon Edelstein

With

Patch Darragh, Judith Ivey, Keira Keeley, Michael Mosley

concludes its limited engagement Sunday, June 13th, 2010

“A terrific new production of Tennessee Williams’s fiercely moving and seriously funny play.  Director Gordon Edelstein’s thought-provoking approach is lightning-lit from within by Judith Ivey, giving what is surely the performance of her career.” – Charles Isherwood, The New York Times

“This is the kind of revival that becomes a golden yardstick by which all future productions of the same play are measured.” – Terry Teachout, Wall Street Journal

Off-Broadway at the Laura Pels Theatre at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre

Roundabout Theatre Company’s (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) limited engagement of The Glass Menagerie will play its final performance on Sunday, June 13th at 2:00 PM. Tennessee Williams’ play The Glass Menagerie, is directed by Gordon Edelstein with Patch Darragh (Tom Wingfield), two-time Tony® Award winner Judith Ivey (Amanda Wingfield), Keira Keeley (Laura Wingfield) and Michael Mosley (Jim O’Connor).

On June 13th, The Glass Menagerie will have played 22 preview performances and 94 regular performances. The Glass Menagerie opened officially on March 24th, 2010, Off-Broadway at the Laura Pels Theatre at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre (111 West 46th Street).

This limited engagement was extended due to popular demand.

In this fresh interpretation of Williams’ haunting memory play, Tom Wingfield (Darragh) sits writing in a hotel room, trying to forge his past into art. Soon Tom’s space is overtaken by the cramped apartment he once shared with his mother Amanda (Ivey), his beloved sister Laura (Keeley) and unrequited dreams as fragile as Laura’s collection of tiny glass animals. There, Tom relives the Gentleman Caller’s (Mosley) visit – the night that changed his family forever.

The Glass Menagerie won two Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Revival and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Play (Judith Ivey). The Glass Menagerie also received a Drama League nomination for Distinguished Performance (Judith Ivey) and a Theatre World Award (Keira Keeley).
