2009-2010 Outer Critics Circle Award Nominations

2009-2010 OUTER CRITICS CIRCLE AWARD NOMINATIONS

Nominations for the 60th annual Outer Critics Circle Awards, celebrating excellence in Broadway and Off-Broadway theatre, were announced this morning.
 

A BEHANDING IN SPOKANE has been nominated for Outstanding Actor in a Play (Christopher Walken).

BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS has been nominated for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play (Noah Robbins).

EQUIVOCATION has been nominated for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play (David Pittu).

FENCES has been nominated for four Outer Critics Circle Awards including: Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Director of a Play (Kenny Leon), Outstanding Actor in a Play (Denzel Washington), and Outstanding Actress in a Play (Viola Davis).
 
HAMLET has been nominated for Outstanding Actor in a Play (Jude Law).
 
LA CAGE AUX FOLLES has been nominated for four Outer Critics Circle Awards including: Outstanding Revival of a Musical, Outstanding Director of a Musical (Terry Johnson), Outstanding Actor in a Musical (Douglas Hodge) and Outstanding Costume Design (Matthew Wright).
 
LEND ME A TENOR has been nominated for four Outer Critics Circle Awards including: Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Director of a Play (Stanley Tucci), Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play (Jan Maxwell) and Outstanding Costume Design (Martin Pakledinaz).

A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC has been nominated for three Outer Critics Circle Awards including: Outstanding Revival of a Musical, Outstanding Actress in a Musical (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical (Angela Lansbury).
 
MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET has been nominated for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical (Levi Kreis).
 
NEXT FALL has been nominated for two Outer Critics Circle Awards including: Outstanding New Broadway Play and the John Gassner Award (Geoffrey Nauffts).
 
THE ORPHANS’ HOME CYCLE has been nominated for five Outer Critics Circle Awards including: Outstanding New Off-Broadway Play, Outstanding Director of a Play (Michael Wilson), Outstanding Actor in a Play (Bill Heck), Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play (James DeMarse), and Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play (Hallie Foote).
 
PRESENT LAUGHTER has been nominated for Outstanding Costume Design (Jane Greenwood).
 
RAGTIME has been nominated for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical (Bobby Steggert).
 
RED has been nominated for two Outer Critics Circle Awards including: Outstanding New Broadway Play and the John Gassner Award (John Logan).
 
THE ROYAL FAMILY has been nominated for seven Outer Critics Circle Awards, the most nominations for a play this season: Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Director of a Play (Doug Hughes), Outstanding Actress in a Play (Jan Maxwell), Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play (Reg Rogers), Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play (Rosemary Harris), Outstanding Set Design (John Lee Beatty), and Outstanding Costume Design (Catherine Zuber).

SONDHEIM ON SONDHEIM
has been nominated for four Outer Critics Circle Awards including: Outstanding New Broadway Musical, Outstanding Actress in a Musical (Barbara Cook), Outstanding Set Design (Beowulf Boritt) and Outstanding Lighting Design (Ken Billington).
 
TIME STANDS STILL has been nominated for three Outer Critics Circle Awards including: Outstanding New Broadway Play, Outstanding Actress in a Play (Laura Linney) and Outstanding Featured Actress (Alicia Silverstone).

TIN PAN ALLEY RAG
has been nominated for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Musical.
 
A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE has been nominated for two Outer Critics Circle Awards including: Outstanding Actor in a Play (Liev Schreiber) and Outstanding Revival of a Play.
 
WISHFUL DRINKING has been nominated for Outstanding Solo Performance (Carrie Fisher).

Not for profit company nominations:
MANHATAN THEATRE CLUB productions have been honored with 11 Outer Critics Circle nominations: THE ROYAL FAMILY received seven nominations, the most nominations received for a play this season, three nominations for TIME STANDS STILL and one nomination for EQUIVOCATION.
