“LOOPED to close on Broadway this Sunday April 11”

LOOPED, the new comedy starring Valerie Harper, written by Matthew Lombardo and directed by Rob Ruggiero, will close this Sunday, April 11.  It will have played 27 previews and 25 regular performances at the Lyceum Theatre, 149 West 45th Street.  Previews began on February 19 and it opened on Sunday March 14.
Valerie Harper received acclaim for her performance as Tallulah Bankhead:

“Ms. Harper gives an enjoyably big, blustery performance, nailing very last laugh. She commands the stage handily and reveals precise comic timing.  – New York Times

USA Today called Valerie Harper’s performance “witty and exuberant….a pitch-perfect portrait of the seminal diva.

“Valerie Harper does a bravura turn in LOOPED.” – Bloomberg.com

The Huffington Post said it was “Hugely Entertaining!  Tallulah Bankhead is magnificently played by Valerie Harper.”

“Big laughs!  Valerie Harper delivers one gargantuan, no-hold-barred performance!” – NY1

“Valerie Harper has a ferocious sense of comic timing and knows how to make an entrance! Four-letter words fly and so do the laughs!” – Associated Press

LOOPED tells the story of Tallulah Bankhead, the internationally celebrated actress, being called into a sound studio in 1965 to re-record (or “loop”) one line of dialogue for what would be her last film — the dreadful “Die, Die My Darling.”  Southern, but by no means a belle, Ms. Bankhead was known for her wild partying and convention-defying exploits that surpassed even today’s celebrity bad girls. Given her inebriated state and inability to loop the line properly, what ensues is an uproarious showdown between an uptight film editor and the outrageous legend.

Brian Hutchison and Michael Mulheren complete the company.

The show is produced by Tony Cacciotti, Chase Mishkin, and Leonard Soloway.   The creative team for LOOPED is set designer Adrian W. Jones, costume designer William Ivey Long, wig designer Charles LaPointe, lighting designer Ken Billington, and sound designers Michael Hooker/Peter Fitzgerald.

LOOPED plays Tue at 7, Wed-Fri at 8, Wed at 2, Sat at 2 & 8, and Sun. at 3 PM.  Tickets are available through www.telecharge.com, or by calling 212 239 6200.
