Jersey Boys receives 10 Helpmann Nominations

10 Australian Helpmann Awards

JERSEY BOYS, the international smash hit musical about the story of Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, has just been nominated for 10 Helpmann Awards (Australia’s Tony Awards).  The nominations include:

BEST MUSIC DIRECTION Ron Melrose & Luke Hunter

BEST SCENIC DESIGN Klara Zieglerova & Michael Clark

BEST LIGHTING DESIGN Howell Binkley

BEST SOUND DESIGN Steve Canyon Kennedy

On hearing of the nominations the Producers were elated and Rodney Rigby said “Being nominated as Best Musical is a wonderful acknowledgement by our peers across the industry how special Jersey Boys is to audiences and everyone associated with the production.”

Dodger Theatricals commented from New York saying “We are so pleased that Bobby Fox’s powerful performance as Frankie Valli is being lauded by the nominating committee as one of the best of the year.”

Chris Green from Dainty Consolidated Entertainment said “What a great honour to be nominated in ten categories. This shows tremendous recognition from the industry and we are delighted.”

After 14 months in Melbourne and being seen by nearly 600,000 patrons and playing 453 sold out

performances JERSEY BOYS is set to preview at Sydney’s Theatre Royal from September 3, 2010.

The 2010 Helpmann Awards Ceremony will be held on Monday, September 6 at 6.30pm at Opera Theatre, Sydney Opera House.
