GETS A ROYAL WELCOME
IN RALEIGH
The Raleigh engagement of JERSEY BOYS opened to rave reviews on Friday night, June 26 at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium, where it will play through July 18, 2009. From there, the national tour will play Boston, MA July 23 through September 26, 2009.

There are good reasons why the Tony Award-winning musical JERSEY BOYS is in its fourth year on Broadway, and they’re present in the highly polished national tour here for Broadway Series South. The first, of course, is the music. Those of a certain age who count the singular sound of the Four Seasons as part of their dating/mating rituals (and they filled Memorial Auditorium on Friday night) will get their money’s worth from these first-rate voices, led by Joseph Leo Bwarie’s laser-beam falsetto as Frankie Valli (Graham Fenton plays Valli matinees and Sunday evenings). Josh Franklin as Bob Gaudio, the hit-making songwriter of the group, matches Bwarie in confidence and vocal talent (especially in his solo turn in “Oh What a Night”) and offers a winning stage presence. Matt Bailey’s Tommy DeVito and Steve Gouveia’s Nick Massi round out the quartet, infusing the foursome’s numbers with foot-tapping zing (and causing a lot of involuntary sing-alongs throughout the evening).
